About me
I am excited to be a part of the Forest Heights Stem Academy team!
My name is Chanda Freeman and I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself.
This is my eleventh year teaching mathematics, and my sixth year at Forest Heights Stem Academy. Teaching math is my passion! It is my goal to take the fear of math out of every student. After all, math is in daily use by everyone, and is also a universal language.
I enjoy facilitating student exploration of mathematical concepts through a variety of methods, including hands-on activities and online exploration/assignments. I also enjoy having students work on group projects. Culminating activities usually include a writing assignment, as literacy crosses all content areas. Reading these assignments always teaches me more about each individual student, which is invaluable.
I graduated from the University of AR at Little Rock with a Masters in Education. My favorite classes dealt with Math Remediation and Differentiation.
I have two children and have lived in this area for most of my life. Some of my favorite past times include reading, arts and crafts, and spending time with my children.
I can’t wait to get to know your child and I’m looking forward to a transformative and productive school year. I have high hopes that this year will be full of positive and exemplary experiences for both your child and myself!
I have posted the 6th & 7th grade classroom expectations, policies and procedures via this link. Please feel free to contact me by e-mail at [email protected] should you have any questions, concerns or feedback.
I look forward to meeting and working with you and your child.
Sincerely,
Ms. Freeman
